In Kinkiizi East constituency Kanungu district, a demonstration is being planned by disgruntled NRM supporters.
The latest from Kanungu has it that Nyamirama parish registrars this morning refused to take election materials to their parishes for voting.
Nyamirama is a sub country in Kinkizi West constituency Kanungu district.
This, according to the source, was after the district NRM election officer, John Byaruhanga, appointed an agent to former Kanungu Woman MP, Jacqueline Kyatuheire, to work as a sub county registrar.
“The aim of this was to aide Kyatuheire and the group to rig votes. Up to now election materials are still the council Hall,” the source said.
Kyatuheire is one of the six contenders who are vying to replace former Prime Minister, Amama Mbabazi.
Others are; Frank Twinomugabe (FDC), Gad Ahimbisibwe Rugaju, whom Mbabazi trounced in 2011; James Ruggi Kaberuka, the Kihiihi town council district councilor; Julius Mbabazi, the proprietor of Kihiihi Progressive primary school; James Kamwesiga, a former personal political assistant to Mbabazi and Dixon Ampumuza who formerly worked with New Vision.
People in Kinkiizi West were reportedly planning to demonstrate against the alleged malpractice.
Two civil servants at Kihihi town Council, a one Katimuntu, Abas and their group, were caught with over 1000 ticked ballot papers.
Baryomunsi beats up journalists
In Kinkiizi East constituency, State Minister of Health for General Duties, Chris Baryomunsi, and his group reportedly beat up journalists covering events in their area.
One of the beaten journalists worked with New Vision; the source says the scribe’s camera was also destroyed in Kifunjo area.
Baryomunsi, was a day back caught with pre-ticked ruling party NRM ballot papers.
Baryomunsi is the elected Member of Parliament for Kinkiizi County East and a member of Uganda’s ruling party which he is battling for with Flugence Muhereza who has been a councillor for Rugyeyo Sub County in Kanungu district.
The minister tried to ferry thousands of pre-ticked NRM ballot papers into Kanungu but the vehicle carrying the ballots crashed at Katojjo in Kambuga Sub county Kanungu district.
Unconfirmed reports say Baryomunsi’s rival, Muhereza, has also been seriously beaten by the army travelling in the minister’s car.
Muhereza’s personal stuff including a laptop and camera were also taken.
