Scott Delisi, a former US Ambassador to Uganda has dismissed the hoax message which has been doing rounds on social media.
According to the message, Delisi is quoted to saying FDC presidential candidate, Kizza Besigye, will never be president of Uganda.
He allegedly pointed out that FDC as a party will one day capture power but with a president who will be accepted internationally.
The hoax message said Delisi passed Amama Mbabazi as the best alternative for Ugandan presidency.
The U.S. Mission in Uganda on February 15 [two days back] dismissed the hoax.
“The statement being attributed to @Scott_DeLisi is fake. Amb. DeLisi confirms it is a hoax,” the mission said in a tweet.
Scott H. DeLisi also went to his social media, Facebook page and wrote: “For my friends in Uganda. There is a tweet going around on social media that is a hoax.”
He added: “I have not and will not use social media, or any other platform for partisan politics. I refused to be drawn into debates a about individual candidates as Ambassador and will not start now. Principle, not personalities were always my concern. Besides, I know that the only voices that matter are yours!”
Delisi wished Uganda good luck with the elections.
“I hope they will be a peaceful exercise of your democratic right to choose the leaders who reflect your views.”
