A crime preventer’s house in Mbarara town was on Wednesday set on fire on accusations that he killed a man.
Sengabi Waswa attached to Nyakaizi police post in Mbarara district and his colleague were arrested last week for killing a one, Francis Twesigeomwe whom they reportedly pursued from his house forcing him into river Rwizi before stoning him to death.
They are currently detained at Mbarara Central Police Station.
The District Police Commander Jaffar Magyezi said Twesigomwe had allegedly assaulted a neighbour’s shamba boy over allegations that he was trying to rape his wife.
On Wednesday morning, residents discovered Twesigomwe’s body in River Rwizi.
Angry, they raided Waswa’s home and set it on fire.
Meanwhile, the deceased’s body has been taken to Mbarara referral hospital for a post-mortem.
