As Uganda was celebrating the national team Cranes victory over Comoros to qualify for the 2017 Afcon, two families were grieving the death of their relatives in separate accidents.
Three Cranes supporters were killed in different motor accidents just minutes after the match ended with a 1-0 win at Mandela National Stadium –Namboole.
Uganda’s police spokesperson Andrew Kaweesi, told the media during a weekly press briefing that the victims were knocked dead by over joyed drivers from Namboole shortly after the match had ended.
“There were two accidents after the Uganda Cranes match at Namboole on Sunday.
The first accident happened at 7:30pm where two teenagers were knocked dead by a speeding car at Kalerwe,” Kaweesi said at a press briefing.
According to Kaweesi, the second accident happened at around 9pm claiming the life of a 50-year-old man.
The deceased were identified as Isma Kinubi, Esther Namyala 17 and Teddy Namalwa 13.
