Court of Appeal has upheld the death sentence given to city businessman, Thomas Nkulungira alias Tonku.
High Court sentenced Tonku to life for the murder of his girlfriend, Brenda Karamuzi.
Karamuzi’s body was recovered from a septic tank by fumigators on January 30, 2010 at Kijjwa zone Bukasa in Muyenga.
In their ruling on Thursday, three Justices of the Court of Appeal said there was enough evidence that Karamuzi was killed by Tonku at his home in Muyenga.
The Judges were; Augustine Nshimye, Kenneth Kakuru and Eldad Mwangusya.
They ruled that Tonku’s defense and conduct places him at the scene of crime when he told Karamuzi’s relatives that he last saw the deceased on the morning of January 22, 2010 at his house.
He reportedly advised them to try and find their missing daughter in the mortuary.
The judges also noted that the presence of Karamuzi’s blood, brain matter, the murder weapon, her bags and blood on Tonku’s clothes.
Tonku now has one more chance to appeal in Supreme Court or face a hangman’s noose at Luzira prisons.
