Court summons Besigye

Kasangati Magistrates court has issued criminal summons for Forum for Democratic Change former presidential candidate Kizza Besigye.

This was after he refused to sign police summons in relation to “unlawful assembly” charges.

Last week, police arrested Besigye at Mulago hospital roundabout and charged him for holding an illegal procession.

He was attempting to make his way to the party’s headquarters in Najjanankumbi for prayers.

Police spokesperson Fred Enanga says detectives from Kasangati Police Station have attempted to serve Besigye since Friday last week but he has refused to sign for the summons.

“Whatever the case we shall be in court on Wednesday,” Enanga says.
