Like any responsible family man, Steven Kalyango struggled to make ends meet for his family by operating a boda boda (passenger service) business.
However, his life was cut shot on November 30, 2012 by two of his friends he trusted.
It is against this background that justice Margaret Tibulya of the High Court sentenced Godwin Atuhaire and his other friend Brian Mulindwa after they were found guilty of killing Kalyango and stealing his motorcycle.
The two had been charged with murder and aggregated robbery before the Masaka based High Court.
Court heard that on the fateful day, the two convicts who were then Kalyango’s friends and residents of Bwala village, Masaka district killed him by struggling over his 3 million shillings motorcycle.
The convicts’ plea for leniency fell on the judge’s deaf ear.
The judge in her ruling said, the two young men both aged 21 do not deserve life in society full of good people since they had made a choice to live devious life.
