Court in Entebbe has sentenced Fred Sekibengo to four years in prison after he was found guilty of reckless driving and causing death.
Sekibengo was the driver of the truck that killed Doreen Tashobya, the Entebbe Municipality MP Rose Tumusiime’s daughter and a care taker Patrick Busingye.
The truck which Sekibengo was driving rammed into the motorcycle which Tashobya and Busingye were riding on killing them instantly.
Sekibengo pleaded guilty to all the charges Entebbe Chief Magistrate, Mary Kaitesi and was ordered to pay Shs2.9 million as compensation to the deceased’s family or face jail.
Unfortunately for him, he could raise the said money thus the sentence.
In his defense during hearing, Sekibengo who handed himself to police on June 23 said he regretted the incident and was still in shock with fresh images of the deceased in his head.
The accident still haunts him, a reason as to why he handed himself over to police.
