Court remands man who broke into Besigye home

A court in Rukungiri has sent Andrew Ngabirano to Rukungiri government prison on remand for breaking into the house of Kizza Besigye.

Ngabirano, 20, was arrested for allegedly vandalizing the house of jailed opposition leader on June 4, 2016.

Ngabirano who has been in police custody, on Wednesday appeared before the Rukungiri Grade One Magistrate Christopher Tindebwa Adyeri.

Ngabirano pleaded not guilty to the charges and was remanded to Rukungiri central prison utill July 6, 2016.

The state said it was still carrying out investigations into the matter.

Ngabirano has since been pronounced mentally ill by Rukungiri Municipal principal medical officer Dr Emmanuel Musiimenta.
