Court orders police to free FDC youth leader

Rukungiri Magistrates Court has issued an ordering directing Uganda police to release an opposition youth who has been detained beyond six days.

Dickson Nampumuza, FDC youth leader for Rukungiri has been in detention since Friday 6th May, 2016.

Magistrates Court in Rukungiri declared that the six days detention illegal and unconstitutional.

Grade One Magistrate Elizabeth Lamunu issued another order directing Uganda Police Force to immediately and unconditionally release him.

The order is directed to CIID officer Ogwal Michael and the station OC Okwi.

Police is still refusing to comply with these court orders, according to FDC youth activist, Moses Byamugyisha.

Byamugyisha even camped at Rukungiri police station early this week to have his colleague released but to no avail.
