Court in Kampala has ordered for the arrest of former Central Police Station DPC Aaron Baguma.
Buganda Road Chief Magistrates Court on today issued an arrest warrant against Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baguma to compel Police to produce him in court to answer charges of murder.
The presiding chief magistrate Jameson Karemani issued the arrest warrant after Baguma snubbed court summons in the criminal case against him.
Consequently, Resident State Attorney Jonathan Muwaganya asked court to issue the warrant against Baguma for failure to appear in court as exepected.
According to the summons issued on August 12, Baguma was expected to appear in court on August 18 over the murder of a Kampala City businesswoman.
Last week week, the Director of Public Prosecution Mike Chibita said Baguma remains a murder suspect and added he would invoke powers of independence given to his office to make sure the police officer does not operate above the law.
Baguma is one of the suspects in the alleged killing of businesswoman Betty Katusabe at Pine car bond in Kampala on October 21, 2015.
He is lined up to appear in court along with other suspects who are on remand.
They include car dealer and proprietor of the car bond, Muhammed Ssebuwufu, Godfrey Kayiza, a private security guard, Mr Philip Mirambe, a Congolese national, Mr Stephen Lwanga, a businessman and one Mr Paul Tasingika.
