High Court in Kampala has extended ruling on the former FDC presidential candidates Kizza Besigye’s bail application which had been slated to be June 6 following the declaration of the as Eid day celebrations.
Besigye had written to the court seeking to be released from Luzira prisons where he is imprisoned on treason charges.
He applied for bail was on grounds of ill health, which requires a specific diet.
Court presided over by Justice Wilson Masalu Musene had set Wednesday July 6, 2016 as the date for ruling on the application.
Judiciary Communications Officer, Solomon Muyita, says court has pushed the session to Monday July 11 since tomorrow is Eid day.
Meanwhile, Nakawa District Coordination Committee (DCC), the framework of institutions in the Criminal justice system, will on Thursday (July 7) morning visit Luzira Prisons, police detention facilities and the Naguru Remand Centre too, among others.
The visit is meant to assess the detention and remand standards of suspects and accused persons, including Dr Kiiza Besigye.
The Nakawa DCC is chaired by the Nakawa Chief Magistrate, James Ereemye Mawanda Jumire.
