Jinja High Court on Friday nullified Iganga Municipality MP Peter Mugema’s election over voter bribery accusations.
Court declared Nasser Mudiobole of Forum for Democratic Change [FDC] as the rightful MP of Iganga municipality.
Court found him guilty of vote rigging and voter bribery committed during the February elections.
The court also issued an order directing to Mudiobole be sworn in henceforth.
In May, Usuk County MP, Peter Ogwang and Ajuri County MP, Denis Hamson Obua pushed an agenda to have Mugema disciplined for supporting Independent Mohammed Nsereko for the position of Deputy Speaker of Parliament against the NRM candidate, Jacob Oulanyah.
Mugema, who was the chairperson of Nsereko’s campaign taskforce, fronted his candidate during the elections held at Parliament.
Mugema aka Panadol today becomes the 4th 10th Parliament NRM MP to be kicked out.
Meanwhile in Luweero, court kicked out another National Resistance Movement (NRM) Member of Parliament Lillian Nakate over voter bribery.
Presiding Judge David Batema declared Luweero Woman MP Seat vacant after Nakate’s victory was nullified after court found out that she bribed voters during campaigns and elections.
Court’s decision followed a petition filed by Democratic Party (DP)’s Brenda Nabukenya who lost the seat to Nakate in the February 18 parliamentary elections.
Nakate became the fifth NRM MP to lose her seat.
On Wednesday, the High Court in Mbale kicked out of Parliament NRM’s Vincent Woboya, who had in February been declared winner of the Budadiri East seat, citing failure to retire in accordance with the law.
Last week, the High Court in Kampala declared the Busiro South MP seat vacant after NRM’s Peter Ssematimba was found to be lacking the requisite academic qualifications.
On Tuesday, the MP for Lugazi Municipality Isaac Mulindwa Ssozi was also thrown out of Parliament also for lack minimum academic qualifications.
