Court grants Besigye Shs2m bail

Opposition leader Dr Kizza Besigye has appeared before Kasangati court magistrate.

He was summoned to answer charges of “unlawful assembly” filed by the police.

The charges were brought against Besigye following his arrest a week ago at Mulago roundabout as he headed to FDC offices for prayers.

He was later detained at Naggalama police station in Mukono.

When he appeared before court on Wednesday, the presiding Magistrate  granted him a non-cash bail of Shs2m.

His sureties were Ingrid Turinawe and Tonny Sempebwa.
