NRM electoral commission has announced Brian Tindyebwa as the party’s flag bearer for the Rubaga North Parliamentary seat in 2016 elections.
In the October NRM primaries, Singh Katongole defeated Tindyebwa but the latter petitioned the NRM EC saying the results were not right.
NRM EC boss, Dr. Tanga Odoi, wrote back declaring Tindyebwa the flag bearer after examining and investigating the Rubaga polls to the conclusive end.
Court blocks Katongole
On Friday, Civil Court registrar, Festo Nsenga, ordered Tanga not to endorse Katongole until his academic qualifications case has been concluded.
The case was filed by Tindyebwa who successfully got an interim order restraining Katongole from contesting for the Rubaga seat.
Tindyebwa says Katongole’s ‘O’ and ‘A’ level academic certificates were forged.
He petitioned both Tanga and the Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) on the same.
Mathew Bukenya, Uneb Executive Secretary, wrote to NRM saying Katongole’s ‘A’ certificate was forged and it was never issued by the examination body.
Katongole got his O-level certificate from Kampala High School in 1984 but his A-level certificate allegedly from the same school in 1986 was forged.
Tindyebwa had also sued the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) for the certificate Katongole purportedly got from Kampala International University.
Justice Nsenga, however, dismissed the case against NCHE pending hearing of the main application in December 16, 2015.
