Over 10 unclaimed bodies of elderly persons, fetuses and babies at Moroto Referral Hospital are producing a foul odour, an issue that has forced patients and visitors to the facility to flee.
URN visited the hospital Wednesday morning and found the doors of the wards close to the mortuary locked. The nearby Excel construction company workers sat on the rooftop to avoid the stench in the compound. At the usually isolated mortuary within the compound, the facility remained under key and lock with only hordes of bulging blue and grey flies popping in and out of the dirty windows.
Isaac Lomongin, a resident of Moroto Municipality says the situation has now gone out of hand. He explains that for over a month, they have been experiencing the bad smell from the hospital without explanation.
