Congolese army kills top ADF commander

At least 42 Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels including a deputy commander have been killed, according to reports.

DR Congo army Tuesday claimed it had killed Hood Lukwago, the ADF overall commander and 41 other rebels in the Eastern part of the country.

Lukwago’s death is another blow to the rebels following the arrest of their leader Jamil Mukulu who is now facing charges of murder and crimes against humanity in Uganda.

The Congolese military spokesperson of Sokola Operations I and the Far North Operational sector in the country, Lt Mak Hazukay, said their forces killed Lukwago, the deputy commander and the second in command of the ADF rebel group after a fierce battle in which they lost five soldiers.
