Congo mai mai militia is said to have kidnapped ten people after a raid organized on the night of Friday, July 10, at Biriba, Bukondo and Buhimba in Walikale territory (North Kivu).
Eyewitnesses told Radio Okapi that the attackers also looted property of the population before retreating into the forest.
The militia reportedly took advantage of the absence of the military in the country to organize their attack which forced residents to flee their homes to neighbouring hills.
Others fled to the forests before arriving Saturday morning at Pinga.
The fate of the hostages of these militia is not yet known.
However, the FARDC, based in Pinga, quickly travelled to rout the attackers.
These three villages attacked straddle Walikale and Masisi in North Kivu.
Recurrent attacks of armed groups in Walikale increase the number of displaced in the territory lately.
Hundreds of households have abandoned their places of origin fleeing abuses by armed groups in the territory of North Kivu.
According to corroborating sources, the displaced find shelter especially in Walikale center, Kibua Mpofi, Pinga and even on the border with the territory of Lubero (North Kivu).
