Congo is holding a Uganda police officer Cpl Biral Obara who was earlier presumed dead.
Rwenzori Regional Police Commander, Denis Namuwoza, told Daily Monitor Cpl Obara, a marine officer survived the shooting that killed his colleagues last week.
Democratic Republic of Congo soldiers ambushed Obara and other three officers on Lake Albert and shot them in a standoff over illegal fishing.
Sgt Faruk Waiswa, Constable Moses Ochen and Constable Bernard Isingoma, died on spot while Obara was taken to Bunia township in eastern Congo alive and detained.
Namuwoza said the officer would be released today, Friday.
Meanwhile, Congo authorities have released the three bodies of Obara’s colleagues for transportation to Kampala.
Congo officials also agreed to hand over all other property confiscated in the shootout.
