Deputy government spokesman Col Shaban Bantariza says the military will continue to patrol Kampala city until there is no more security threat.
Bantariza made the remarks while appearing on NTV last evening.
“As government, we can only say, tone down on your egos; deflate abit,” he said in reference to opposition that is planning a march to State House on March 10.
“Law only helps us to regulate our contradictions so it’s better to harmonize our contradictions first,” Bantariza explained.
He said the purpose of opposition demonstrations is to overwhelm the state yet the state belongs to the entire Society of Uganda.
“The only way we can continue as a society to get remedies is to follow instructions from the regulators.”
Bantariza said the NRM government has worked hard to establish the rule of law.
“The best I know is that when you have an election people will win and others will win genuinely or not.”
He added: “My right of movement stops where the law of trespass applies. There are no absolute rights.”
Bantariza said the state doesn’t respond to what is happening at the moment but prepares in advance from what it knows.
“We don’t want to go to beat people, we want to protect them.”
