Chameleone, Bebe Cool get nothing at MTV awards

Jose Chameleone and Bebe Cool

Ugandans hopes were dashed last night when the two leading musicians who represented the country failed to get a single award at the concluded MTV African Music Awards (MAMA) awards 2015.

Held in South Africa, Durban, the awards were dominated by Nigerians who won 7 awards including ‘Best Male Act’, ‘Best Female Act’, ‘Evolution Award’, ‘Best New Act’, ‘Song of the Year’, ‘Collaboration of the year’, ‘Best Group’ by Davido, Yemi Alade, D’Banj, Patoranking, Mavins, AKA and Burna Boy, P-Square respectively.

Rikhado Makhado a.k.a Riky Rick, a South African, won the Video Of The Year with his video called “Nafukwa” beating Bebe Cool’s “Love You Everyday”.

Dr. Jose Chameleon only managed a 2nd place among the big artists in his category

According to critics, Bebe cool lost because “he told over the biggest half of the people in Uganda not to vote for him and Nafukwa video is far better than Love you everyday”.

Critics also accuse Bebe of attacking Eddy Kenzo, a person who won B.E.T award but called him an upcoming artist”.

For Chameleone’s case, critics say he “was competing with only big artists in Africa and his category was released late”.
