The ruling NRM’s Central Executive Committee has blocked Hakim Lukenge who wanted to contest for the party Vice Chairmanship leaving Moses Kigongo, the current Vice Chair, unopposed.

Lukenge is another young blood who was summoned by President Yoweri Museveni alongside Odrek Rwabwogo last week.

He has been seeking to vie for NRM first Vice Chairman, an office occupied by Kigongo.

CEC in a meeting yesterday rejected his nomination alongside Rwabwogo leaving historicals Matayo Kyaligonza and Kigongo unopposed.

Kigongo, according to reports, was among those loyal cadres who in 2005 extended a Shs 5m facilitation to wet Members of Parliament’s throats as they voted to remove presidential term limits.

There are allegations that actually the bribes were handed over to MPs at his Guest House [called Mosa Courts] just after Sheraton Hotel.

Christopher Muwanga, a member of Ugandans At Heart [UAH] says Kigongo mobilized businessmen to contribute food rations during the bush war.

The historical is accused of engaging in malpractices in previous NRM elections, but there is no evidence to verify the accusation.

He was recently in the news tussling it out with ex-wife, Olive Kigongo over his multi-million Mosa Courts.

Towards the middle of the year, he took NTV’s ‘Mwasuze Mutya’ morning Show host, Faridah Nakazibwe, into his marital bed as a new wife.
