At least four people have been arrested following the torture and gruesome murder of a businesswoman, Betty Dona Katusabe, on Tuesday.
They include; Mohammed Sebuwufu, Lwanga Stephen, Kayiza Godfrey and Mirambe Phillip.”
Speaking at a Joint Security Forces Press Conference attended by ISO boss, Brig. Ronnie Balya and Assistant IGP, Abbas Byakagaba, the Inspector General of Police, Kale Kayihura, said police owes the public an explanation.
He confirmed that the agents involved were sent by one Mohammed Sebuwufu, the proprietor of Pine car bond located along Lumumba Avenue in Kampala just above Central Police Station.
“Katusabe was taken to Pine Bond, run by that Sebuwufu, and tortured over an unpaid debt of Ushs9million.”
“By the time the Police rescued her and took her to Mulago Hospital, she was pronounced dead… linked to the torture,” Kayihura said.
He said the motor vehicle, a Toyota Premio Reg. No. UAP 155T where this torture happened, was impounded.
“Sebuwufu tried to interfere with the case, but I ordered for his arrest myself,” Kayihura revealed.
“We are extremely sorry to the family and pay our condolences to them. The people who did this must face justice.”
He continued: “I want to commend the citizen who saw what was going on and called the Police. I must find and thank him personally.”
Kayihura asked the public to volunteer any information regarding Sebuwufu.
The same businessman was last year arrested for possessing an illegal gun.
