Businessman fined Shs19 million for impersonating CJ Katureebe to rob tycoon Katatumba

A city businessman who forged the signature of Chief Justice Bart Katureebe has been fined Shs19 million.

Saleh Luzinda was fined by Buganda Road Magistrates Court for forging the signature on a document that CJ Katureebe purportedly used to hand over Hotel Diplomate Muyenga, a property owned by businessman Bonny Katatumba, to Shukla Mukesh, the Chief Executive Officer of Shumuk group of companies.

Luzinda was charged along with two other businessmen; Bob Joseph Nabasa, and Martin Matovu.

Luzinda on Thursday pleaded guilty to the crime of uttering a document bearing a forged signature of Mr Katureebe.

According to him, the intention was to defraud about Shs450 million from Mukesh Shukla as payment for helping him secure ownership of the hotel.
