Burahya County MP, Hon. Margaret Mugisa Muhanga has taken oath before the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga.
Muhanga was the only legislator, who missed out on the swearing-in held early last week from 16th Monday to Wednesday 18th May, 2016.
Her swearing-in completes the process bringing the number of legislators in the 10th Parliament to 427.
The brief function was held in the Speaker’s Boardroom, at Parliament Building, Friday, 20 May, 2016.
Hon. Muhanga was accompanied by her husband, brother, journalist Andrew Mwenda and two daughters.
Speaker Kadaga welcomed Muhanga to Parliament and provided her with a copy of the Parliament Rules of Procedure and the Constitution of Uganda “to remind and guide her of her obligations.”
“We are happy to see you back,” Kadaga told Muhanga.
Muhanga was in the 8th Parliament representing Kabarole district, losing the seat to Victoria Businge Rusoke in the 9th Parliament.
She now represents a constituency in Kabarole district.
Muhanga said she missed her scheduled swearing-in on Tuesday while away on an official assignment in South Africa to meet President H.E Jacob Zuma.
When asked about what her constituents should expect of her, she said, “They should expect the best of me.”
“I will focus on giving services to the people of Burahya, because they raised me, grew up with me and married me,” she said.
