Budadiri East MP Vincent Waboya has been thrown out of Parliament.
The incumbent MP Isaiah Sasaga, a member of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), challenged in court election results for Budadiri East Constituency, claiming they were marred with ballot stuffing and other electoral malpractices.
He asked court to nullify the election results saying his agents were chased away from Bumasifwa and Bugitimwa sub-counties where police took advantage and stuffed ballots for Waboya.
He said police under the command of DPC Moses Nanoka, beat up people and stuffed pre-ticked ballots in favour of his rival.
Accordign to the results, NRM’s Woboya garnered 19,034 defeating FDC’s Sasaga who polled 17, 219. David Woniala, an Independent candidate polled 4,813.
On Wednesday, Mbale chief magistrate ruled that Waboya had not even resigned his position at the prime minister’s office.
Waboya was the Principal Disaster Officer in the office of the Prime Minister (OPM) before he contested for Budadiri East seat.
Mbale High Court judge Justice Dr. Andrew Bashaija in his Wednesday ruling said Waboya failed to retire from the office of prime minister as claimed before taking to parliamentary politics last year.
The judge said Waboya retired on 10 May 2015 but continued receiving a salary up to December.
He also received over Sh50m in June from OPM for dissemination of disaster management information in Kween, Sironko and Bulambuli districts indicating that he was still a staff member.
Waboya joins the league of NRM legislators who have been thrown out of parliament this month.
Court last week threw Peter Sematimba, the Busiro south MP out of the house on account of lacking academic papers.
High Court in Gulu also evicted the Member of Parliament for the newly created Aruu county North Constituency in Pader district Lucy Achiro Atim over noncompliance with the established electoral laws.
This came after Jinja High Court threw out of Parliament a ruling NRM party MP Isaac Mulindwa Ssozi Lugazi for possession of fake papers.
