The election of Forum for Democratic Change-FDC party leaders in Northern Division of Soroti municipality were a big flop on Sunday following confusion amongst party members.
According to the FDC election road map, the party members were expected to elect representatives right from the division to the sub county levels.
These include parish, Division/Sub county l, youth and female representatives.
However, the elections didn’t go on as planned.
Nathan Ongodia, an FDC youth leader in Camp Swahili ward says the elections were marred with bribery forcing the returning officer to call them off.
Josline Achom, another FDC member blames the mess on NRM supporters who infiltrated the polls.
She also faults the party leadership for failing to provide ballot papers for the polls and resorting to queues, which she says is likely to split the party.
Emmanuel Icoot, the returning officer Camp Swahili ward that he was forced to postpone polls because of confusion amongst party members.
John Enomu, the Soroti FDC chairperson told URN this morning that they would conduct the elections later today.
He however, said that if the members in Camp Swahili ward fail to agree they would proceed with the elections in Pioneer, Kichinjaji and Madera wards.
By 1:20 pm, the FDC party members in Camp Swahili had not elected officials to the parish structures.
