Forum for Democratic Change national chairman ambassador Wasswa Birigwa says the opposition is not surprised by the Supreme Court ruling on Amama Mbabazi petition.
Court dismissed the petition challenging President Yoweri Museveni election victory on grounds that it lacked enough evidence.
“Which is why we are still demanding for the independent audit,” Birigwa says.
Speaking to NBS TV on Wednesday, Birigwa wondered why NRM was “afraid of the audit”.
“We as FDC don’t see the reason why the NRM fears an independent audit. Supreme Court can inquire beyond a petition but they didn’t.”
He said FDC still demands for the independent audit of the results to determine who surely won the elections.
Museveni won the elections with 60% followed by Kizza Besigye with 35% and Amama Mbabazi with 1%.
According to Birigwa, the people of Uganda know they were cheated and the NRM knows this.
“Numbers were fabricated. We want people to know what happened.”
Asked whether he believes Besigye won the elections, Birigwa said “102%”.
“We got independent experts to assess the process.”
