FDC presidential flag bearer, Kizza Besigye, has left The Democratic Alliance meeting currently being held in Bugolobi.
Besigye, the Forum for Democratic Change-FDC flag bearer, DP’s Nobert Mao, former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi and former Vice President Professor Gilbert Bukenya, are currently on a three-day TDA retreat.
Sheila Kawamara Mishambi, the deputy spokesperson of The Democratic Alliance, says the summit is discussing and adopt the criteria to be followed in choosing a candidate.
However, the proceedings were interrupted in the afternoon when a group of FDC youth stormed Royal Suites hotel’s conference room and asked Besigye to leave with them.
Besigye loyalists are demanding that he leaves the alliance which they accuse of favouring Mbabazi.
The Youth forced their way into the room where meeting was taking place.
The youth carried placards with messages calling upon Besigye to return home [FDC party].
Besigye in response said they [youth] “have a right to express themselves”.
The Youth were led by Members of Parliament including; Odongo Otto, Jack Sabiiti, and Geoffrey Ekanya, known for his dramatic appeal.
Besigye then left the meeting with the youth to address issues raised by his loyalists.
By the time Besigye left, he had failed to agree with TDA on who should be the candidate fronted or manner in which that candidate is selected.
