Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) icon, Kizza Besigye, today, Tuesday July 14, will launch his party presidential flag bearer campaigns.
Besigye’s Campaign programme will officially be launched at Kasangati Ssaza Ground at 11:00am in the morning.
He will then hold another rally at Kawempe Growers at 3:00pm in the afternoon.
According to FDC flag bearer contestant, Moses Byamugyisha, Besigye will today ”move around Uganda, preparing Ugandans for a political Passover”.
Passover (Pesach in Hebrew) is one of the most important festivals in the Jewish year.
At this time Jewish people remember how the children of Israel left slavery behind them when they were led out of Egypt by Moses over 3000 years ago.
Besigye’s programme was interrupted last week when he was arrested together with Amama Mbabazi and FDC youth and locked up at Naggalama Police Station while Amama was locked at Kira Police Station.
The FDC Party Electoral Commission and the Uganda Police Force met on Monday, discussed the issue of arrests and holding Public Rallies and reached an agreement.
Police later cleared their rallies and allowed Besigye to proceed.
On the other hand, Gen. Mugisha Muntu who is chasing the same slot will begin his campaigns on July 16, 2015 in Bunyoro.
He had suspended his campaign program when Beisgye was arrested.
If he is voted flag bearer, Besigye will be running for president against President Yoweri Museveni for the 4th time.
