FDC presidential candidate, Kizza Besigye, says police infiltrated his camp and planted hooligans into it.
Besigye was addressing press at his home in Kasangati on Tuesday.
He was commenting on the shooting and killing of his supporter, Elias Kwesiga, in Wandegeya on Monday by military police.
“I don’t feel responsible for what happened yesterday[Monday] because the program of our campaign was stipulated and none of us engaged in the any force of violence.”
He said it was entirely unprovoked work of police, nothing new.
“This is their usual work.”
“Previously the police have planted hooligans amongst our peaceful supporters, and the information we are receiving points to the fact that they are planning to sabotage our rallies.”
He said there are trained hooligans who have been despatched to disorganize his rallies and usually put on the same FDC T-shirts.
“They are authorized to steal and pick pocket to portray a bad image of our supporters.”
“Be aware of such elements, if you site them don’t be violent towards them, inform your circles of such disruptive elements amongst us.”
FDC supporters, according to police, on Saturday beat up and Indian and stole his property.
According to Besigye, the perpetrators are goons planted by police in his camp.
