Kizza Besigye has Monday picked nomination forms to run for Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party presidential ticket in 2016 general elections.
Wilberforce Kyambadde, chairperson of Besigye’s nomination committee picked the forms on his behalf.
Kyambadde says Besigye who is currently out of the country will be nominated on Wednesday at midday.
Besigye who has stood against President Yoweri Museveni three times (2001, 2006 and 2011) and lost, never ruled out his return in the 2016 elections.
He is now vying for the position of presidential flag bearer alongside FDC President, Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu, and a youthful Moses Byamugyisha.
Muntu will be nominated on Thursday for the same position.
Byamugisha picked the forms weeks back and says he is ready to take on the bigwigs in his party.
Besigye, who was FDC party president from 2005 when the party was officially formed, stepped down before his term expired in 2012.
With this trend of events, analysts say the opposition is already torn into parts and may give Museveni an upper hand if they don’t sort themselves out soon.
