Opposition leader Kizza Besigye and Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago were dumped at respective homes late last night after a day of scuffles with police.
Dr Besigye was travelling with Lukwago, Ingrid Turinawe, Mubarak Munyagwa and Imam Makumbi who is the Democratic Party Vice President for the Western region.
They were arrested yesterday in Kabale and taken to Ntungamo police station were they were detained.
Besigye and Lukwago were among the opposition members who had travelled to Kabale to answer charges of inciting violence.
The Kabale Grade One Magistrate court adjourned his case to June 6 for further hearing because the trial chief magistrate is on leave.
The police spokesman for Kigezi Elly Maate said that Dr Besigye was arrested in Rwamucucu sub county Rukiga county about 18km from Kabale town as he tried to cross into the neighbouring Rukungiri district.
According to Maate, this would posed a big security threat.
