Eng. John Nasasira, Information and Communication Technology bashed Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate Kizza Besigye, saying he (Besigye) diverting Ugandans from democratic and constitutional path.
According to Eng. Nasasira, an outgoing Kazo constituency Member of Parliament, Besigye has killed the opposition by not accepting facts and is not helping it (opposition) to strengthen and grow because he has concentrated on claims that he won and refused to recognise that president Yoweri Museveni of the ruling National Resistance Movement defeated him.
Eng. Nasasira said this at his farewell ceremony where he bid bye to his constituents.
In his remarks, Eng. Nasasira also said: “in the 9th parliament, it used to be me Dr Crispus Kiyonga and speaker Rebecca Kadaga who have been in parliament since 1989. There is nothing that cannot end.”
In July 2015, Nasasira announced that he would not offer himself for re-election, saying he would retire as their MP when his term of office ends in May this year citing health-related reasons.
“I am eternally gratefully to the people of Kazo for their love and support during this period. I am honoured as a member of parliament and a minister in government to have made my humble contribution to this development, especially in Kazo County which will soon become a district,” said Nasasira.
