Police chief Kale Kayihura has furiously responded the different people who have been accusing him and the police for brutalizing people saying that it is Kizza Besigye who is against police.
“If he (Kizza Besigye) is the only one confronting with the police, then it’s him who’s a problem not police. Why is it that police is not having the same problem with others? Besigye is not the only political leader or activist,” Kyihura wondered.
“If every time a mistake is done by a police officer and you call for the IGP’s resignation, then every day you will have to appoint new IGPs”.
Addressing the Red Top brigade at his home on Sunday, Besigye demanded that the Inspector General of Police General Kale Kayihura be prosecuted for brutality of the force.
He accused police of perpetrating violence in the country and not opposition members. He said the condemnation of those acts forced government to first charge low-ranking police officers for beating his supporters.
“Those who torture our people should be reprimanded or punished. Kayihura himself must appear before court and answer to his crimes. That is what will stop future managers of our services from abusing their offices,” Besigye added.
