FDC presidential flag bearer appeared on Capital Gang this morning where he attacked those who criticise him and the idle Ugandan elite who just talk without ever doing anything.
Besigye was Saturday appearing on Capital Gang, a political talk show hosted by Capital FM.
He said those criticising him especially the country’s elite were not contributing anything to change the country for the better.
“Those who are criticising me [elites] should also come out and join the struggle,” he challenged.
He said during the freedom struggle, it was the peasants that fought while others were waiting for offices.
“Possibly am the only party leader who has served and stepped down from office. I have not led a political party in a manner that frustrates anyone coming up.”
Besigye said he has not heard anyone outside FDC party contest the way he was elected flag.
Besigye said sometimes families “turn against you for the suffering they get because they didn’t ask for”.
He clarified: “It’s insulting to say that I am power hungry.”
The FDC presidential flag bearer said everyone wants to win but that it can’t be for the sake of winning.
“The struggle we are in, I see it in two ways: 1] Cause empowerment and 2] Reforms are not just legal reforms. They are reforms that depend on power structure.”
