The driver of the Opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) former presidential candidate Dr Kizza Besigye has been released from jail.
Buganda Road Chief Magistrates Court today released Fred Kato who had been charged with reckless driving.
According to appeared Gladys Kamasanyu, the magistrates who presided over Kato’s trial, the state failed to adduce credible evidence against the accused.
Prosecution had told court that on May 28, 2015 along Nakivubo road Mr Kato while chauffeuring Dr Besigye, he drove from the middle of the road to Nakivubo Market thus endangered the lives of other road users.
Kato was last year arrested alongside Dr Besigye from downtown Kampala after the four times challenger of President Yoweri Museveni announced a defiance campaign aimed at demanding for electoral reforms.
