“We have visited H.E Besigye at Moroto police,” Forum for Democratic Change said in a statement on Thursday.
Kizza Besigye who was arrested in Kampala on Wednesday was detained first at Nalufenya police station in Jinja district.
According to Uganda Radio Network, Besigye was later flown in a helicopter to Nandunget airstrip in Moroto district
From Nadunget airstrip, he was driven in a double cabin-Ford Ranger Registration Number UAK 386U and was locked up at Moroto Central Police station.
Police then relocated more than 20 suspects to Rupa Police post.
Only Simon Nangiro, the Mt. Moroto Regional FDC coordinator was allowed this afternoon to take for Besigye food and water.
Maruk told URN that he is waiting for instructions from his superiors on the next course of action.
Police has also deployed both uniformed and plain-clothed personnel at the police station, eating places, bars and other busy places within Moroto town.
“He is well. It is up to us to make sure that he is free,” FDC later communicated in a social media statement.
Besigye was arrested minutes after he claimed to had taken oath as the people’s president.
His wife Winnie Byanyima has since tasked police chief Kale Kayihura to tell her the charges brought against her husband.
