Thousands of people yesterday bid farewell to the late Kizza Besigye’s lawyer, Wilfred Murumba, in Rubanda West at a funeral close to that of the late Bishop Festo Kivengeri.
Murumba, a man who lived to serve public good in the justice sector, passed on at Kampala hospital due to multiple organ failure.
It is still suspected that he was poisoned.
Gen Mugisha Muntu, FDC President, Col Kiizza Besigye, former FDC President addressed the gathering on Uganda’s degenerating health care system.
The death of Murumba has rallied the people of Kigezi more than ever.
Politically, the ruling party NRM has been bashed for failing Ugandans on health.
Besigye has mobilized people in this region to act against what he called impunity.
On 23rd April, Besigye and other opposition leaders will return to court without Murumba.
FDC under pressure to replace the late Murumba as they head for grassroot elections
As FDC heads for grassroots elections next week, many people are pressuring the leadership to name the replacement of late Wilfred Murumba politically.
Even when late Mulumba sat for Judicial Commission interviews to be a judge, the party leadership knew they would replace him when appointed.
However, he became sick and died.
The party has held 3 vigils, 3 church services and attended by party leaders.
His death came a week to the party polls but they had to organise a befitting send-off.
The party leaders were briefed and after some period a possible candidate for Kabale Municipality will be named.
The party is holding grassroots elections on 15th April.
A close source says Pius Ruhemurana and Sentaro Byamugisha are potential candidates.
This process won’t delay because the 2016 road map for parties begins this month.
The mistake committed by Hon Andrew Aja Baryayanga made people at Rushoroza nearly speak in tongues.
The FDC Candidate will meet Professor Augustus Nuwagaba, Dr Nicholas Kamara and Hon Andrew Baryayanga.
