FDC youth activist, Moses Byamugyisha, reports that one of their supporters has been shot in Wandegeya in a clash with police and military.
Candidate Kizza Besigye has been dragged to Wandegeya police station after police teargassed his supporters.
By a 4:30pm, police was still engaging Besigye supporters with tear gas and live bullets at Wandegeya road junction.
Running battles ensued stretching as far as Mulago road junction.
By 5:40pm, Besigye was still held at Wandegeya while Makerere University students waited for him at the Freedom Square.
Wandegeya DPC, Brian Ampaire, told Besigye he would not be allowed to hold a rally at Makerere university as campaign time (6pm) had elapsed.
Anti-riot police then surrounded Besigye’s car and towed it to Wandegeya police station, with Besigye inside it.
Besigye and other occupants of the car remained locked inside.
By 6pm, normality had returned to Wandegeya round-about but security continued to fire teargas and live bullets.
FDC supporters responded by throwing stones and burning flammable objects.
They were later joined by Makerere university students paralyzing business.
Meanwhile, Moses Byamugyisha, an FDC youth activist, said about 12 of their supporters had been injured in the scuffle.
He said one of them was shot by police.
Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, told NBS TV that one person was killed following today’s city scuffles.
