Former Makerere University Vice Chancellor, Professor Venansius Baryamureeba, has released a campaign road map for the 2016 elections.
Baryamureeba who claims to be the change Uganda has been waiting for is now ready to embark on consultations across the country.
According to his road map, Baryamureeba will hold his first consultative meeting at Rushere Primary School playground in Kiruhura district on August 4, 2015.
Kiruhura is the home district of President Yoweri Museveni who he is standing against in the coming election.
“Rushere being President Museveni’s home town, I will use this opportunity to thank the people of Rushere/ Kiruhura for producing a President that has ruled us for the last 30 years and again request them to be part and partial of the transition from President Museveni to President Baryamureeba,” he writes.
“We thank God for our President’s long life but he is now old and tired. We need to avoid a precedent of a President dying in office because of old age like it’s happening in other countries lately.”
The climax of Barya’s public consultations will be held in Kampala and will be marked with the launch of the Presidential Manifesto on September 25, 2015.
Barya says he has already divided the country into five sub regions; southern region, western region, central region, eastern region and northern region as per The Fifth schedule to the current Constitution of Uganda.
“In round one I will publicly consult at least 5 districts from each region and in round two at least 15 districts from each region making a total of at least 100 districts to be publicly consulted.”
He had already written to the Inspector General of Police about the consultations.
Barya’s other plan is to collect signatures of at least 100 voters in each of at least two thirds of all the districts in Uganda concurrently with public the consultations.
However, the Electoral Commission in their letter 14th July 2015 ref. LEG75/79/01 informed him that the forms are not ready “yet 5th October 2015 is around the corner”.
His campaign task force is coordinated by, H.E. Yoram Banyenzaki, Former Guild President of MUBS – Makerere University Business School.
