Presidential candidate, Venansius Baryamureeba, has dismissed as misleading a picture showing him surrounded by kids in Kayunga district yesterday.
The picture that is still trending on social media shows Barya addressing a group of not more than 10 people with the majority being kids predicted to be in baby or middle nursery class.
Barya says the picture was circulated by his rivals to discredit him.
“Contrary to misleading pictures circulated by the rival camps, my rallies in Kayunga were well attended amidst rain,” he said today.
He appreciated the spirit showed by Kayunga people who braved the rain to attend his rally.
He added: “I thank all the people of Kayunga for the support shown yesterday during my campaign rallies.”
Only last week, President Yoweri Museveni said Barya is a young boy who failed to run Makerere University.
The president wondered how someone who could not run a small school can run a country of 35 million people.
Bary shot calling Museveni a person who is of advanced age and has no more capacity to keep tabs of what is going on and has no idea what is happening on the ground in Uganda.
He said the President was on record for acknowledging him [Barya] as the best Vice Chancellor Makerere University ever had.
He said on 9th October 2013, he was honoured by President Museveni with a Golden Jubilee Medal for his significant role in advancing higher education in Uganda.
The Golden Jubilee Medal is the highest honour bestowed to a non-head of state by the President of the Republic of Uganda.
“Of course I know that President Museveni has grown very intolerant of anybody who threatens his hold onto power,” Barya wrote.
“It is the reason that he [Museveni] has gone an extra mile to forget the above as seen in his attacks over my personality.”
Barya even demanded for a presidential debate with Museveni.
