Government has warned opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party against causing choas during the return of Kizza Besigye.
The party on Monday announced a programme for welcoming Besigye who has been on a tour of Europe and America.
Speaking to NBS television, deputy government spokesperson, Col. Shaban Bantariza, said as long as FDC welcomes Kizza Besigye in consultation with the Uganda Police, “that will be good”.
“FDC says they have notified police about plans to welcome him but informing the police is not enough,” Bantariza said.
He observed that FDC should be willing to follow police directives.
“The procession shouldn’t inconvenience other road users.”
The party, however, said it has already written to Uganda Police asking for security and protection.
According to Bukhooli Central MP Rt. Hon. Wafula Oguttu, Besigye is expected back home on Thursday 29th September at 8am in the morning abroad Kenya Airways.
He will address the media before proceeding to the party headquarters.
FDC secretary for mobilisation and organisation Ms Ingrid Turinawe is in charge of all preparations for Besigye’s return.
