Bakhresa Food Products Ltd has said the AZAM mango juice product manufactured on 19/09/2016 was mislabeled as 19/10/2016.
Azam Bakhresa Group Companies which produces and sells a number of different products including ‘fresh fruit juices’ recently came under fire after a pack of juice with wrong manufacturing date emerged on social media.
The pack which has been doing rounds in Uganda on social media platforms like Facebook, whatsapp and Twitter, among others has its manufacturing date labeled as October 19, 2016, meaning the product was more than a week left to its manufacturing date.
A number of social media enthusiasts attacked Azam for producing what they described as poisonous foodstuff in what could be the biggest Public relations scandal suffered by the company this year.
However, in a statement isuued on Thursday the Directorate of Corporate Affairs, Bakhresa Group of Companies said the wrong that was a human/machine error.
“This is totally a human/machine error. We advise Consumers who purchased these products to return them to store where they were purchased, as we are currently conducting recall of the product.
