Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Secretary General Nathan Nandala Mafabi has asked Police to arrest him or the party president Mugisha Muntu and not the party staff who work on directives from the two if police has any issues with the party.
Addressing the media on Monday at the FDC head offices in Najjanankumbi, the Budadiri County West MP asked police to release all the party officials it’s detaining and arrest him because all the FDC officials work under his directives.
But police insists the suspects under their custody are not FDC members but thugs.
According to Police spokesperson Fred Enanga, they arrested 160 suspects on May 12 but none of them is an FDC member or official.
On May 9, Mr Enanga said Police was not holding FDC secretary for mobilisation Ingrid Turinawe only to be contradicted later that day by his boss Inspector General of Police Kale Kayihura who confirmed the force was holding her for involvement in a “number of crimes”.
She was later released.
