Army spokesperson Lt Col Paddy Ankunda has confirmed the shooting and killing of seven people are Makindye military barracks by a soldier.
In what he described as a “sad moment”, Ankunda confirmed that Sgt Isaac Obua of military police Makindye has “just gone bonkers” and killed seven people.
Obua reportedly got out of his house and started shooting randomly at whoever was in his sight.
“All of the killed are women and children, one child was injured,” Ankunda said in a tweet.
He said Sgt Obua, the killer himself was put out of action.
“We are all mourning,” Ankunda said.
The dead were wives and children of his fellow military soldiers.
Capt Edward Birungi, the spokesperson of Military police said the barracks was cordoned off.
