The joint security forces operating in Gulu town say they have in custody the overall commander of Sunday attackers.
Gunmen launched coordinated attacks of Gulu Central Police Station on Sunday killing a UPDF soldier, injuring four others and two police officers.
Army spokesperson Lt Col Paddy Ankunda identified the dead soldier as Cpl Moses Edema.
He said Edema and others were returning from a burial and got caught in a crossfire.
On a positive note however, Ankunda said three of the attackers surrendered with their rifles.
Security forces captured more weapons and the vehicle the attackers used.
On Monday evening, another gunman surrendered to security.
“Among the Gulu attackers whom we have now is the overall commander of the group,” Ankunda said.
Ankunda did not name the said leader of the attackers.
Meanwhile security has already arrested five more suspects.
There was repeated gunfire in the town as police tried to arrest a suspect on Monday.
