Alied Democratic Force (ADF) rebels are said to have beheaded five more people in Congo.
The attack, according to Amisi Kalonda, the area administrator of the town of Beni, was executed with machetes in the Mbau area.
Mbau lies around 30 kilometres (20 miles) from Beni, a large town in Nord-Kivu province.
Amisi told AFP that the civilians were going to work in the fields this morning where they were waylaid and beheaded.
He said the army managed to rescue three injured men and received the five decapitated bodies.
In January, ADF killed about 40 in and around Beni.
Ugandan army spokesperson, Lt Col Paddy, said they were ready to deal with the rebels should they dare infiltrate the country.
“Ugandan Army on the alert to deal with any ADF incursions,” Ankunda promised.
He said the idea of saying “Ugandan Islamist rebels” in DRC, the ADF was misleading everyone.
