Masaka Municipality Member of Parliament Mathias Mpuuga has survived being lynched by Muslims faithfuls after he arrived late for Eid el-fitir prayers at Masaka main mosque.
The prayers which had been scheduled to kick off at 9am with the address of from the honourable MP were delayed because he came late.
Mpuuga arrived at 10am, an hour late.
His excuses could not be entertained by the already infuriated Muslims who said he was delaying their program for the big day fete.
However, Mpuuga was saved by Imam Swaibu Ndugga’s intervention after he called for calm and convinced the Muslim brothers and sisters to cool down and give the MP attention.
Mpuuga was given two minutes to speak. Barely two minutes into the brief speech, the Muslim brothers interrupted shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’ (God is Great).
In his brief message, Mpuuga urged the Muslim brothers and sisters to resist temptations and remain as holy as they have been during the holy month of Ramadan.
