Go Forward pressure group says its supporters who have evidence of election rigging are being arrested and imprisoned.
The arrests come days after candidate Amama Mbabazi filed a petition in Supreme Court challenging the outcomes of February 18 elections.
Mbabazi who got only 1% of the total vote cites various incidents of election malpractice seeking that court cancels the election.
In a statement Thursday, court set Monday March 7 as the date for hearing of the petition.
Yet, Go Forward Chief of Staff, Solome Nakaweesi-Kimbugwe, says most of their witnesses have been arrested, kidnapped, harassed or forced to disappear.
She said the group was busy gathering evidence to present to court but that the state is still bent on frustrating their efforts.
“Our witnesses are being imprisoned and others eliminated in the process.”
She said six Go Forward polling agents were arrested in Kakiri and Nabweru in Wakiso district while taking declaration forms to Amama’s home in Kololo.
According to Kimbugwe, their agents were intercepted by security agents along Hoima road on Monday and whisked away.
The vehicle they were travelling in ( a Toyota Noah) was discovered on Wednesday in Temangalo Wakiso District.
She said they have already reported the case to police.
According to Kimbugwe, this is not mere sabotage but a calculated move to kill the evidence that would pin electoral commission in court.
Museveni has already lined up his lawyers to defend his fifth term in office.
